Song name, Folk sounding, Lyrics go “No one to talk to when the lights go down”?

Carlos S asked:

Heard it on the radio the other day. Sounds like a white guy singing it. Had kind of a folk music sound to it, little country, little rock.

Lyrics went something like “I have no one to talk to, when the lights go down”. At least that’s as close as I could hear. It was being piped over a crappy speaker system in a waiting room.

Would love to know the artist/song name so I could try and actually hear it on a nice system. It sounded kind of catchy.

I searched for almost half an hour, and the closest I could find to your description were these two songs:

When The Lights Go Down - Black Keys

When The Lights Go Down - Clint Clymer

    is it one of them?

I believe you are referring to James Mcmurtry’s Hurricane Party. It is on the album Just Us Kids.

He is the son of the Lonesome Dove writer Larry Mcmurtry.

    The lyrics are here:
